90 SKALIA

Set into the rugged contours of Sikinos, on the gentle southern hills above Alopronia, 90 Skalia is conceived as a constellation of independent dwellings discreetly embedded in the landscape, between agricultural terraces and pale volcanic ground, oriented toward the open horizon of the Aegean.

The project draws on the traditional architecture of the island – its forms, proportions, scale and materials – adapting contemporary construction and today’s way of living to the measure of the settlement. Simple prismatic volumes, square or rectangular, sit side by side or are linked by pergolas and courtyards, forming a single architectural ensemble.

Dry-stone walls follow the slope, white volumes catch the changing light of the day, and each dwelling opens onto its own terrace, shaded pergola and garden – an intimate extension of the landscape and of the sea beyond.
